INTRO LETTER

Hello, Good Morning, Afternoon, or Evening,

It’s a pleasure to, well not meet you, but meet you. We are interested in adopting your embryos. We’ve been married and trying on and off again for almost a decade to conceive. Wife is in the military, so we’ve moved several times throughout this time. After the better part of 2 years of trying naturally, we decided to try using the Mosie baby system a few times without success. Afterwards, my wife started looking into infertility work up. The doctors found nothing wrong. We moved on, trying Mosie again, before being relocated by the military …again.

While at this new home, wife did another medical work up which again came back fairly clear. Once that was done, we moved over to my infertility; turns out I am “medically sterile.” This was frustrating but we researched some options for IVF because there was still a very small amount of viable sperm.

Then the joys of 2020 happened, and we had another military move… fun. After relocating during the pandemic, we started looking more actively into IVF as IUI was determined to not be effect with the sperm count. Because of the base we were stationed at, we had to travel back to the continental United States for IVF. Although there are a few hospitals in the military community that provide this service, we looked more into clinics that were closer to family to have extra support and save a little money on hotels.

We had a round of IVF resulting in retrieval of 22 eggs, 15 were mature enough to be fertilized, resulting in 2 viable embryos. We implanted the first one, it didn’t take. We grieved, were disappointed, and frustrated. We just recently tried the second embryo following another military move to a base with an infertility specialist. Unfortunately, our final embryo did not take. Wife’s doctor suggested embryo adoption as an option to consider for future embryos given challenges related to the past egg retrieval combined with low sperm count. It has been a long rough road.

So that was the easy part, now for the mostly awkward part where we’re not really sure what to say. Talking about ourselves is not natural. We are both introverts. Wife is a military child & adolescent psychiatrist and husband is an artist who also picks up a retail job somewhere to bring in a bit of extra money for fun and art supplies. We live in a 4-bedroom house with a finished basement, so we have room for a few kids.

We also have a fenced backyard and 2 dogs, both are Irish Doodles. We spend our Saturdays training our dogs who are just old enough to begin learning agility training. One is a bit of a couch potato and the other is a hyper ball of energy. Ironically, the younger one is the couch potato and the older one is the ball of energy. Of course they are still just puppies both under 2 years old. They are both super soft, friendly and play well with our niece and nephew.

Umm, as far as hobbies are concerned, wife is big on reading and animals. She also enjoys gardening.

Husband, on the other hand kills plants, but is happy to create flower beds and to help wife take care of the hydroponic garden. Husband likes watching anime and doing all sorts of arts & crafts. Husband’s current artistic passion is pottery. Mostly throwing clay on the wheel. Husband has experimented a bit with hand building. Husband’s biggest challenge is trying to get the glaze just right. We both enjoy going hiking, going to zoos and parks. Wife was a docent for a zoo when she was a teen and knows a ton of animal facts.

We look forward to taking trips to Disney and all over the nation similar to the trips my wife’s parents did with her. They managed to visit all 50 states before my wife graduated high school as well as several countries. We try to visit either husband’s dad and his wife or wife’s parents around Christmas or in January if we can’t make it during the holidays. We have a goal to visit all 52 National Parks in the US and as many state parks as we can manage. We are pretty sure wife’s parents will take the grandkids to all the Disney parks in the world.

In the end, there really are only two things we can promise you. One, we won’t be the prefect parents and are bound to make mistakes. Two, we will do our best to provide them with a home full of love, fun, and adventure. We appreciate your gift of embryo donation and being a part of our family’s story.

REFERENCE LETTER 1

As K’s parents we have known B & K as a couple from the beginning. We were thrilled when

they married and when they tried to start a family. As a couple they balance each other out well.

K is detailed, scientific, loves to garden, loves to read/study, is a great doctor and great at

teaching. B is artistic (draws, paints, pottery and more), an amazing cook, is not afraid to ask

questions or research things, and able to design and build just about anything. Together they

share a love of animals, nature, game nights with friends, movies and plays. They have the

perfect combination of fun, learning all wrapped up with love and respect.

When they first began to experience fertility issues, we would encourage them by telling them

they are going to be great parents we just didn’t know how they would get their kids. Little did

we know that they would have an eight-year journey that led to adopting embryos. We still

believe that.

B & K are the oldest in their families and we have seen them become an amazing aunt and

uncle duo as their younger siblings have started their families. As the oldest both grew up in an

atmosphere where they we often put in charge of younger kids. In addition, B’s mom had an in-

home daycare and K assisted me as I worked for a church with active children’s ministry and

preschool. B also grew up helping with kids in his church. K began volunteering in the church’s

nursery in middle school and became part of the church staff once she was old enough.

In addition, when K went to college in [City] she drove across town to volunteer in Sunday at

two different churches. When K entered med school, after getting her BS in neuroscience, we

knew she was going to be a kid’s doctor. We just didn’t know what specialty. B & K love kids

and have been well trained. In fact, their love of kids is one of the things that brought them

together. We can honestly say they have what it takes to raise kids in a loving, joy-filled home.

B & K are Disney kids. They grew up visiting the parks and loving both the Disney classics but

also the new content. Being Disney kids, does not mean that they believe life is all easy and

pixie dust, but rather that love, family and strength will get you through the tough times and

eventually to a new happy ending you couldn’t see at the beginning. This is the ethic that has

stayed with them as they have navigated their infertility journey.

B & K have a well-diversified and talented immediate family. In their combined immediate family

there are teachers, a chef/restauranter, HR executive, banker, professor, and a marriage/family

therapist. Their children will benefit from having loving aunts, uncles and grandparents who

have resources for just about anything life can deliver.

Of course, we are a bit biased, but we can honestly say we think B & K will be amazing parents

if they are able to adopt embryos. As grandparents, we vow to love and spoil the kids and of

course take them to Disney!

REFERENCE LETTER 2

I have known Mr. and Mrs. M for two years. I work with Mrs. M and see her on a daily basis, with us usually spending up to an hour during the day talking and keeping each other company. She is one of my dearest friends. She opened up to me about her and her husband’s desire to become parents, but this was coupled with several years of trying to conceive without success. Although it sounds like hyperbole, they are one of the most deserving couples to become parents, with embryo adoption being the most viable path for them to parenthood.

Mrs. M is kind, responsible, humble, and deeply empathetic. She works with children of all ages and is well-attuned to their emotional needs. Mr. M is playful, cheery, and just the right amount of sassy. They are both generous and two of kindest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. They complement one another well as a couple, complementing each other’s strengths and balancing their individual weaknesses. When I went away on an extended work trip they sent me care package with more goodies and thoughtful gifts than anyone else, save for my own mother. They are financially stable with good health insurance. They have high emotional intelligence, are considerate of others, and are more than capable of providing a wonderful life for their future child.

I do not know of anything in their character or history that should prevent them from being successful parents. I wholeheartedly give my recommendation for embryo adoption.

REFERENCE LETTER 3

To whom it may concern,

I have known the couple for well over a decade.  I met him through church volunteering and she was introduced by a mutual friend. That same friend's wedding was when they first met and I was honored to stand with her as an attendant at their wedding the following year. They are dear friends whom I have stayed in contact with through relocations and major life altering events. My children consider them family. As do I. I have had the pleasure of meeting both of their families and witnessing first hand the bond they all share and the close connection that is evident.

They are both honorable people who are active in their community and church. Volunteering, making a meal, and lending a hand comes naturally to them. When an offer of help comes from them you know it is sincere and reliable. They are honest and loyal in a world that doesn't value either. They mirror each other in dedication both to each other and their careers. They complement each other with him being more artistic and creative and her being more logical and practical.

My children are rarely left with anyone outside of me and my husband. He was one of our first sitters and I have left my children in their care on numerous occasions. They are both attentive and patient with my kids and other kids I have seen them spend time with. I have had the pleasure of them being present in my kids' lives from every age (my children range from 24-10) newborn to young adult and they are steady and supportive at every stage. From what I have seen, they both would make excellent parents. I am a children's pastor and mandated reporter and would not hesitate to recommend them for adoption.
